Notes to alpha testers:

Please try to follow through this plan as
you put FreeWeb through its paces.

1) Installation

Please verify that:

( ) a. The installation happened smoothly
( ) b. Start Meny/Programs Icons have been created
       in a FreeWeb group.
( ) c. You can open up this file and readme.txt
( ) d. You can display and read FreeWeb Help

2) FreeWeb Agent

Please verify that:

( ) a. You can run FreeWeb Agent, and a little
'butterfly' icon appears in your system
       task tray
( ) b. You can right-click on this icon, and
invoke the 'settings', 'about' etc options
( ) c. You have set your browser to use the proxy
       server 127.0.0.1 port 8888
( ) d. Your browser displays the FreeWeb test page
when you key in the address http://free
( ) e. You can visit a live FreeWeb site, at
       the address www.test7.free
( ) f. With your browser using the FreeWeb proxy,
you can surf mainstream websites like
       yahoo.com without any problems

3) FreeWeb Publisher

Please follow these steps:

( ) a. Create a new empty folder on your system.
This folder, and all parent folders, must NOT
       have spaces in their names
( ) b. Use your favourite wrb page editor (NOT M$-Word)
to create a file called index.html in this
       folder
( ) c. Within index.html, insert one or more RELATIVE
links to other files in that same directory
( ) d. Create those other files - they can be text files,
html files, GIFs, JPEGs, MP3's, ZIPs etc. Don't
put in too many at this stage
( ) e. Double-click on index.html to 'surf' your site in
your browser. Make sure all your links work, and
the site looks reasonably ok (this is just a test
though - so don't spend hours on it).
( ) f. Think up a throwaway website address. Something
       obscure, like www.zzzez.free, or www.britney.felch.free
( ) g. Now you're ready to publish. Run FreeWeb Publisher.
( ) h. There's two ways to publish your site:
       (i) drag-n'drop the site folder onto the FreeWeb
            Publisher window, OR
(ii) Click 'Add New Site', and browse to your site.
Now key in the domain name you've chosen.
( ) i. After a delay, You should see your new site appearing
       in the FreeWeb Publisher window.
( ) j. The site will show up as 'stale'. You now need to
click on 'update all sites'. Depending on how many
files you have in the folder, this could take 5 minutes
       or more.
( ) k. The 'messages' pane should contain gobbledegook
references to Freenet keys, and your site should show
       up now as 'fresh'.
( ) l. The site should now be available for surfing.
If you've created the site 'freddy.free', then type
into your browser the address 'www.freddy.free'.
       Make sure your site appears.
( ) m. If your site comes up successfully, please tell me its
URL, so I and others can test its availability over
       Freenet.
